Ketimpangan Ekonomi Global dan Kemiskinan

Oleh Agus Wibowo Tulisan ini dimuat Harian Pelita Edisi Rabu, 02 Desember 2009 Program pemulihan ekonomi dan pengurangan jumlah rakyat miskin, kembali menghadapi ancaman mahaberat. Sebagaimana laporan Bank Dunia mengenai perkembangan Asia Timur dan Pasifik terbaru bertajuk Transforming the Rebound Into Recovery menyebutkan bahwa pertumbuhan ekonomi di Asia, lebih-lebih Asia Timur dan Pasifik mengalami ketimpangan selama resesi terparah sejak Perang Dunia II. Ketimpangan itu terjadi karena ekonomi China mengalami laju pertumbuhan sebesar 8,7% pada tahun 2009, sementara negara-negara di sekelilingnya hanya tumbuh sebesar 1%. China juga diproyeksikan sebagai satu-satunya negara dimana permintaan domestiknya melampaui jumlah permintaan global. Laju pertumbuhan ekonomi China itu, tentu saja berdampak negatif pada negara-negara sekelilingnya. Menumbuhkan Jiwa Kewirausahaan

Oleh Agus Wibowo Dimuat Harian Bisnis Bali Edisi 16 Januari 2009 Akibat krisis finansial global yang diikuti pemutusan hubungan kerja (PHK), pengangguran di Indonesia mengalami kenaikan. Data Organisasi Buruh Dunia (ILO, 2009), menyebutkan sektor industri/usaha menyumbang sedikitnya 170.000 hingga 650.000orang. Jumlah itu bisa makin meroket akibat goyahnya sejumlah industri inti, yang bakal turut menyeret ratusan industri pendukung. Sebagai contoh adalah industri garmen yang membutuhkan pemasok bahan baku kain, benang, bahan kimia, logistik, sampai komponen mesin yang disebut subkontraktor. Demikian juga industri otomotif dengan jaringan pemasok komponen serta industri pulp dan kertas. Fenomena pengangguran akibat PHK, tentu saja menimbulkan keprihatinan kita bersama. Apalagi, mendekati pelaksanaan pemilihan umum (pemilu) di mana suhu politik tengah memanas.
